need advice!

I have a 89 yota with 3 inch body lift and 33's. Im looking to do a sas on it in the near future. (frontier4x4.com has a kit that comes with everything i "think" i need including high steer conversion.) im unsure on how big of lift to go with, should i take out my body lift or cut it down an inch or so? Im lookin to build a dd crawler nothing to extreme. I want to run 35's with 5:29 front/rear. What would be the best highth for me?
And ive been looking around tryin to learn about the diffrance between a open diff and a locked (not sure if thats the right word to use for a locker) diff. Any help would be great thanks

Look at the thread under wab fab they have sas kits for a good price and would be able to guide you in the right direction. I just saw a recent post about the kit for sale

Mods, I believe the SEARCH function is broken. Can someone call a repairman!?!

I'm picking bro.... Every question you asked has been answered in every possible way. Click on your year model sub-forum, click search at upper top right of threads listed, type in some keywords(i.e. locker explained, or open or locker, or whatever), and start reading. It's good info, and if you get really stumped, we will do our best to help, or point you in the right direction, or we may flame you.... Good luck!

Get rid of the body lift. When you do the SAS you'll get enough lift for the tires up front. Replace the rear leafs at the same time. You're going to be welding new hangers into the frame up front for the swap, so do some out back and use longer springs. I guarantee that those rear leafs are shot if they haven't been replaced recently. It'll also give you better flex. or you can do a certain type of rigging and zuk mod the rear end to get the required lift for your tires. Body lifts look (and are) ˟˟˟˟ty IMHO. You'll need to regear for the bigger tires and crawling aspirations so if it's in your budget, lock up your diffs while you're in there. Lockers will do exactly what they should like they will, they "lock" up your diff causing power to be sent to both wheels on the axle rather than just one. There are a few options for this but your choice is either a selectable locker ($$$) which you actuate from in the cab or an auto-locker ($) which engages when it senses slip.
I know I'm supposed to flame you for not searching, but I'm new around here too. Also, this is the newbie tech section which is defined as "often asked technical questions." Welcome, and I look forward to seeing your progress as it's what I'll be doing to my new truck when I have the cash.

thanks for the info/help, ill do some more research about the swap. unfortanatly i wont be able to do this for a while ( got a baby due jan 31st) just like to have all the info on how to do it and stuff like that. im goin to start with rebuilding my rear axle and use 5:29 yukon gears. (randys ring and pinion have a full yukon kit for about 400 bucks) and a locker when i get another 500. if i have the extra cash im also going to relocate my rear shocks so they will articulate better on the rocks. ill try and get pics of my progress so yall can tell me what im doin wrong haha. itll be my first axle project.
