My speedometer doesnt work.HELP

I have a 1991 4runner and all of my gauges work accept my speedometer...the previous owner messed with the odometer and so idk if it messed it up, I haven't taken it apart yet but was curious about any ideas? Please and thanks

Does your odometer work? Pull your tach out and drive around the block and look at the needle in the speedo cable. If it spins, the tach or VSS which is in the tach, is bad. If the needle does not spin, your cable snapped, simply replace.

My tach does work.
And could it also be as simple as an electrical problem? Or is it most likely that cable?

Well IIRC the vehicle speed sensor is actually in the tachometer and I do not think you can replace it, you need to replace the entire unit. I'm sure it's one of the few. Very simple check.
