Maybe stupid 2x4 truck question.

My friend has a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. It is 2x4, but he told me that numourous people told him there is a "kit" or even just a way to make it 4x4.

Is this true? If it is tell me more about it so I can help him move along on the project....

Thanks, BTW coming from a former Chevy owner the idea sounds ludacris.

ya you prolly could but you would need to get the xfercase, driveshaft, entire 4wd system, modify steering. If he wants 4wd he should just buy a new truck

Depends on if he has a prerunner or not. Prerunner trucks are 4x2m but they are 4wd delete.

Would not have to mod the steering if its a prerunner.

This person could answer some questions you may have

This thread may be helpful

You need:
- Transfercase
- Front differential
- 4wd front/rear driveshaft
- 2 ADD CV axles
- Vacuum lines for front diff

Junkyard specials could great help you out and THIS GUY had 2 add cv's for sale the last time I checked.

Nitro Hotpants here on yotatech has done a 4wd conversion on his 4runner. I imagine many of the steps are similar.

Honestly while it can be converted, it is much easier to buy a 4wd truck.
