Ok bought some hydraulic fluid and the picker worked great again. Got my old zero compression motor pulled and wow rear main leak smoked clutch the works.
Now I need to have that flywheel ground and install my new clutch. Clean the bell housing. Replace that bearing and the pilot bearing and bolt it back together.

So got to degreasing my new motor and after I pulled the intake off I for a different stamp. Looks like I have an after market head. Is this a good one or just a head. I guess what I am asking is this worth porting and such in the future. Or should I still just plan on buying a head from engnbldr and either gaming him port it or do it myself. I have some basic knowledge on porting. FYI.

You better double check on the clutch/flywheel compatibility. I think the bigger flywheel needs a different clutch.
Check Marlin's specs for the step dimensions also.

I bought the clutch for the 93 which is the 9 and something 16. And I am using the bigger flywheel as well so I should be ok. But I almost turned the smaller one. That would have been money poorly spent. Ha. Get lucky some days. And I had them cut the stock step per marlins site in. Thanks for all the help. I would be lost with out you all

Simple green, let it soak a bit. ( or any other degreaser ) Then blow out with water. They're not really designed to be submerged extensively, but if you can ford em thru a creek, little pressure washer action won't hurt.

my guess is that all of the 22re heads you'll get are aftermarket, unless you possibly go to the dealer for it... the head that i got from engbldr says dmj, or something similar, not amc, fwiw.
the outside diameter of the flywheel itself is always the same, because the flywheel ring gear has to interact with the starter, which is in a fixed location... the pressure plate/clutch disc diameter is what changes, which also means that the mating surface diameter on the flywheel must match that... you already know that, i'm just mentioning it for noobs who might read this later.
i would take the old pressure plate/clutch disc down to the local flaps and see what they have for name brand replacement parts... that way you know that you are getting the correctly sized parts for the bigger stuff.
when i replaced my trans, i had the same issues with marlin having stock, so i ended up getting the turbo clutch/pressure plate/flywheel combo from them, which i believe is the same bigger diameter size that you are referring to there.
the clutch disc probably shouldn't be sliding on the trans shaft without lubrication of some sort, but you need to use something that won't liquify at higher temps, and throw lube up into the clutch disc mating surface... apply it lightly.

The the split is 93 and up I believe.
Today I got my flywheel and clutch bolted back together. Changed one freeze plug. Changed pilot the pilot bearing. Cleaned the bell housing. Tomorrow I have to change the throw out bearing and drop in the motor. Hope lining up the motor to bell housing isn't a PITA. Time will tell

Ok I got the bell housing cleaned out new clutch on the back of the motor. And with a little luck the motor and transmission slid together like butter. I got all my bell housing bolts back together. Having trouble getting the drivers side motor mounts to line up. Nothing a cherry picker can't help with. I am sorry I didn't take pictures before I installed it we were racing the rain. But I put a floor jack under the trany and raised it up a few inches. You don't have much room. And then lowered the motor in. When it looked like it was lined up. I put a ratchet on the crank bolt and slowly turned it till she slid together.
Right now I am fighting the slave cylinder. But that should be easily rectified.
I will take pictures before I start today and after I finish.

Ok once again forgot to take pictures but she's back together and runs good. Somehow and it doesn't really matter how. When I hooked up my exhaust the header was 1/2 inch short of the rest of my pipe setup. So tonight I go over to my buddy's house and have him help move it with a cut off wheel and welder.
