lockout hub problems?

lockout hub problems?

My 86 Toyota pickup 4x4 has always went into 4x4 good but this past winter it stopped working I can lock he hubs put it on 4 wheel drive and the Axels are turning but not the tires any suggestions on what's wrong? Thanks.

Well one or both of your hubs is not locked in could be something simple or major carnage

Pull your hubs apart. Really easy to do. Just go through them don't loose the small parts when you take them apart. There is a little ball bearing where the turn dial mates with the hub itself. Probable the most commonly lost part on them. Just make sure you do have junk in there or a broken spring. There are 2 springs in there both of those could cause the gears to not mesh. A quick search turned up this and it's better than mine so I hope this link helps.

Hey it was the springs I fixed it cleaned it up and it works good thanks for the help
