Leafsprings from 4Runner fit 1st Gen truck?

Will factory rear leaf springs out of an 87 4runner work as rear for an 83 pickup?

they should but 4Runner springs tend to be flatter since they have had the weight of the top on them over time causing a saggy butt syndrome
79-88 Toyota 4wd Rear 20.5/27.5 long 2 3/8" wide 18mm/18mm or 14mm/18mm spring eyes.

so would be recommended to do? I have an 83 pickup id like to build a little. I have an 87 4runner for parts. 83 in ruff shape. Rear leafs are completely broke in half.

So far into this. They are the same length. However the front shackle bushings are different sizes. Now need to find custom bushings or some that will work..

Red face

It might be worth your while to just buy new springs and be done

I have learned used springs are more frustration at least for me

Simple to move spring hangers with the springs

Then there is the fact it is all most impossible to get the bolts out of the metal sleeve in the bushing

I did not notice. That helps out a lot. I cannot seem to find bushings that will work with the size im trying to work with. I will more than likely have to just get new springs.

The really bad thing about used springs is there is no good way to preload the springs till you put them in and have them all torqued down.

Then you find one is completely flat with two friends standing in the bed while the other is some what ok.

All this after fighting to get the original ones off.

Right. my biggest thing at the moment is $$.
I just was gonna try to give the 4runner springs a shot. just for the time being. the truck itself will not be on the road for a bit.
