Look in the windshield from the outside, in the lower drivers corner. It should be on a stamped plate that is visible from the outside, usally attached to the dash.

That is the VIN. The second location is on the rt front frame horn. There is nothing visible through the windshield on an FJ40

My ins company had to see my registration to accept the number. It is not a normal length VIN.

Frame VIN location

Yoda, where is the vin location exactly? Just curious if you know specifically before I start looking around. I have a 1972 fj40, and prev owner did a fiberglass tub replacement - Looks like I lost the VIN plate he included.

Thanks in advance.

They did not start using 17 digit vins until 1981, when all US vehicle were mandated to use them.
