Can you take a pic of this button you're talking about so that we can see it?

...and just a suggestion, you should add a bit more info to your signature, such as auto or 5spd, and your gear ratio if you know it. Welcome to Yotatech, by the way.

I suspect typical dealer BS. They have a pocket full of BS answers to questions raised by a prospective buyer. I highly doubt yours was no different.

Like suggested, take a photo and let us see. May be a sensor with the connection wire/terminal broke off with wire missing in action.

My $0.02

Don't worry about the gears. I checked my 92 and there is no button, left or right side. I believe a pic is the only way we will find out what the button is.

If its the button i think it is, its a Temp thing, My machinist put one on my heads after he did some work. Its supposed to melt or something if the engine overheats, therefore voiding the warranty. Seeing as its a 91, its the 3vze it must have Blown the HG at one point. Not sure though, i thought they only put those buttons at the front or rear of the head in place of a freeze plug, an you wouldnt be able to see that unless you have the heads off or have the whole front timing cover and backin off.

Edit...yea thats what it is, a temp plug, dont know the correct name for it though, dont worry about it, jus means someone has been there before.

pretty much every 3vze from 90-94ish were rebuilt for free at the dealership. Nationwide recall.

How is having the gear ratio in his sig going to help in this situation..... and honestly nobody really cares what kind of oil you have in your diff.

could be. Youd have to get with the stealership and ask them. Good luck with that one. Although I think, I think, that if the engine was rebuilt, theyd put one on the block, if the heads are rebuilt, they put one on the heads. Are you having any problems? If not, dont worry about it, but Look up threads for the HG, and decide what your gonna do when your HG blows...LOL Sorry, i hope it doesnt but, its more than likely.
