Hi Everyone,
I went over to a friend's place to do some routine maintenance on my 2001 4runner. His jack would not go up high enough to contact the jack point. This leads me to the question of: which jack's are recommended, and what heights do I need in order to ensure high enough lift, especially once I put a suspension lift on my vehicle? Thanks everyone.

 

i have a 3rd gen 4runner and i actually am still able to use the factory jack to change a tire or raise the truck up to put it on stands.... my other jack doesnt go far enough

 

Harbor Freight has got a long frame jack that I am planning on getting:

The lift range is 5-32" so it will take care of most jobs. Heavy and mildly spendy but worth it with the range it has. Jack stands, of course, are always recommended.

 

I got this Michelin one from sams club that does everything I need. Raises 5 to 22 inches and thats plenty. Need to go higher get a 4x4 block

Put the jack under the axle (or the crossmember in the front) instead of the frame, just about any jack will work...

 

Bottle jacks and cinder blocks work pretty good, too.

 

i got a cheapo gm one and it barley reached then i found one in the trash and it works perfectly
