IFS Control Arms

Howdy yalls,
So i have a 1986 Pickup 4x4 and I've been looking for stock lower control arms for it. The only problem is no one makes aftermarket arms for this year. I've been searching and I've come across 89-95 control arms brand new from the dealer. Just wondering if there is any variation between the different years.

Hey tofu,
I looked on Craigslist and found a complete IFS for about 200.00, also came with the front diff.
Put your location in your sig and maybe somebody close will have some.
I am in Nor cal and will have a spare set when my 22re performance motor comes in about a month.

I'll just cut to the "just SAS it" comment so we can all get past it and the early opportunity for OP to say "no." Now doesn't everyone feel better

Rep77 really responded with your most reasonable and probably realistic solution. Look for post from guys SAS'ing their rig and purchase their removed parts. I would've given mine away but wound up throwing most to the recycling bin.

Well sourcing other peoples parts and finding out they don't work would really suck, so its a gamble which i'm trying to avoid.

Since it was left unanswered i found out from some other folks that yes to do fit. Only thing to keep in mind is that the bushings are different and you need to keep that in mind when changing them out.

Well almost after a whole month i'm pretty sure it is safe to say it was left unanswered. I'm not trying to trash or complain about your advise or Republic's. It was advice and i thank yall for it but it isn't an answer to the question i ask.

What question were you asking?
In the op, you said you were looking for STOCK lower control arms.
Then you say that the only problem is no one makes AFTERMARKET arms for this year.
Then you searched and found new Toyota arms from a different year, only you gotta change bushings.
I found stock lower control arms on C/L cheap.
Good luck with your search!

Oh come on guys........................................ Seriously ...............................................
  1. Tofudude wants new lower control arms for a 1986 Toyota 4WD Truck
  2. Tofudude didn't find any new lower control arms available for a 1986 Toyota 4WD Truck (I hope you checked for OEM replacements before searching aftermarket options for your truck)
  3. Tofudude found 1989-1995 Toyota 4WD Truck lower control arms are available from the Toyota dealer.

QUESTION:Will 1989-1995 Toyota 4WD Truck lower control arms fit onto a 1986 Toyota 4WD Truck? [Left unanswered]

Okay, with that out of the way, the easiest solution (as others have said above) is to find a pair of good used lower control arms for your year. This cuts out the confusion of "Will this part fit my truck?" Craigslist would be your best bet here.

Since Tofudude said that 1989-1995 will fit a 1986 Toyota 4WD Truck with different bushings, would you mind sharing where you saw that? This could help others who come across this thread in the future.

Thanks!

It came from Nate(?) from Blazeland...he's gone through enough arms to know. There are two generations of control arms Gen 1 is from 1896-1988 and then Gen 2 from 1989-1995. Complete arms can interchange.

I just spoke with Blazeland Nate today to confirm similar, he said the control arms can swap early vs late, as long as you swap the bushings and ball joints as well - they must match the year of the arms.
