idle issues 94 DLX Ext. Cab. V6 5 SPD.

Hey guys,

I have been lurking on these boards now for a month or two since I have bought my truck. It is a 94 DLX Ext. Cab. V6 5 SPD.

To my issue, last night as I was cruising the country roads, I noticed that the truck seemed to be lurching way worse than I can remember. Well I didn't think much of it at the time. I come to a stop sign about 20-30 minutes later and I noticed the truck is idling so low it is about to die. It never did die, but it was close. My initial thought was possibly fuel filter, but it drives fine minus the lurch every now and then.

When I came out this morning of course she fired right up no problem. Seems it was idling just fine as well. Anyone experience anything like this? I am wondering if it needs to be driven for a couple of hours to recreate it? Any help is appreciated guys! Thanks!

It is my daily driver these days. Keeping the miles off my car. I just filled up before the weekend. Drove all weekend. Just started yesterday.

Here is what I am going to try. I am going to get some fuel injector cleaner and top off the tank. If it still happens, then replace the fuel filter. Still happening I think I may have to do the fuel pump.

Any other suggestions?

doubt its a fuel pump... they usually work or dont.

try the others and go from there... all are pretty easy/cheap, and its not bad to do it anyway.

Exactly, well I am glad there is not something I am not thinking of. And it was time for me to post something here anyway.

Thanks colson

another thing that will affect idle performance is the cleanliness of the throttle body and the throttle position sensor. Some food for thought. If the throttle position sensor wasnt adjusted correctly it should throw a CEL though.
