I was told I could not allign my 4runner if I added 2" spacers.
I am thinking about adding 2" spacers and bumping up to 265/75/R16's on my 02 4runner. I priced out BF AT's and then talked to the shop about installing the spacers as well. The guy I talked to said if I added the spacers they would not be able to allign it properly because there would be nothing to reference or compare to. Does anyone know anything about this? Is he full of it or does he have a ligit point? He said all they would able to to would be adjust the tow in and out as best they could.
Thanks for your help.

Nonsense. It may or may not align to "factory" specs, depending upon which spacers, but that's not really what you are after anyway.
Take it to a REAL alignment shop where they actually know what they are doing, instead of just twiddling knobs. The guys who actually understand what doing alignment means will take care of you with no problem.

Everyone I've talked to seems to think that it can be alligned properly by someone who really knows how to do an allignment and is not just turning knobs according to what the factory spoecs say.
Also, I know I can put on the 285/75's with out spacers or any lift but I've read that you will rub if you are wheeling and really stuff a tire. I want it to sit a little higher, be able to run a bigger tire and not rub when wheeling. I think the stock 4runners with the painted fender flares look as if they sit too low. Later on down the road I may throw on the OME/Tundra lift but I just bought a house so funds are tight. Really want 33's but it's a daily driver and gas it too expensive right now. I might try to offset the slight loss in gas mileage I will see with the 75's by adding some type of air filter system.
Thanks for the input fellas.

They are full of you know what! I had spacers on mine installed from 4WP and never had an issue with the alignment. By the way I had 285 BFG a/t's with a Datstar 2.5" lift and it barely rubbed. I trimmed the very inside plastic of the running board and never had an issue again. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f123...ft-info-81538/

If you don't want to rub when you really stuff a tire, and are tight on funds, simply extend the bumpstops a little. That's EXACTLY one of the things that bumpstops are for.

I can take care of your spacer needs...and yes, you can still align the vehicle easily...but not by the idiot you talked to.
Install the spacers yourself...it is easy and I have installation instructions.
