How to remove Gauge Cluster
I need to swap in a new cluster apperntly, because my tach and fuel gauge got fried, in an overcharging episode. Its no problem as I have found one at my junkyard for 25 bucks, and theyre throwing in a bench seat also. I took the cover for the dash off, and removed the 4 screws to the cluster. It moves from side to side, up and down, but it doesnt pull out. I know theres plugs in it, but I look up and it looks as though they have some slack, so why doesnt it come out. Do I really have to weasel my hands in there and pull the plugs out? If so, they arent the snap on ones are they? God that will be a pain. Thanks.

in my 88 there are 2 (maybe 3) plugs that hava all the wires, they are the push button type where you have to press a little tab to pull them out. Although on mine there was about 6in of slack in the wires.
The tricky part is getting the spedo cable off and on. Mine was a very tight fit with no extra slack so you have to squish your hand back there to pull it off.
