Hi forum and suspension questions

hi all just picked up a a 93 4wd auto 4runner, and had some questions.

first off this is my first suv and i dont know anything about truck, but do have some general car knowledge.I bought the truck to be used in winter only so i wasnt going to spend any $$ on modding it but after 3 days of driving i cant help myself. so im not used to the way it handles yet and wanted to tighted the suspension and steering, but have 120k on the clock i know some of the stock suspension parts are somewhat shot as i learned from driving on the highway i was wondering if anyone can give me some advise on what to get to fix some of this sloppy steering/response. this is what i got so far from reading:

1) shock - bilstein HD <---had them on previous cars been good to me
2) rear spring - downey 1.5 hd <-- where are the best place to get these
3) steering stabilizer <----which brand do you guys recommend
4) bushing <---i saw an energy suspension kit and read about a downey kit as well?? anyone got more info on this?

and whatever help, comments or advise would be appreciated

I'm all for OME for rear spring and steering stabilizer, and you can contact strap22 on the boards for any of this stuff because he is an authorized OME dealer and can and WILL answer any questions you have.....awesome guy to deal with.

Welcome to the forums. This place is chock full of knowledge and some of the nicest people you ever wanted to meet. In the future please place emphasis on correct capitalization and puctuation to avoid lectures from the old timers. Enjoy!

In what way ?

In my experience in the past (non Toyota) the SS really didn't make a noticable difference (assuming that you have PS).
I ran for the last year without one with no problems at all.

thanks for all the replies, I'm look into price for the rancho and the ome, see which one is cheaper.

just got under the car for the first time today and see one of my cv are shot, probably replace it, any recommendations on aftermarket ones? I know the toyota ones gotta be hella expensive.

plans to do today: flush power steering, replace/ bleed brake fluid, drop tranny pan and flush myself by disconnecting the cooler return line and going 2 quarts at a time. grease all fittings, and transfer case and diff. fluid too.

happy thanksgiving.

After i put the new one on, turning felt a million times easier and overall it handled rough roads a lot better.

maybe its just me though...

what brand did you buy?

quote from Old Man Emu:

Designed to reduce the
effect of wheel vibration
and improve the feel,
handling and control of
the vehicle, OME's steering
stabilizers will also reduce
the aggressive rotation of
the steering wheel over
rough roads without
affecting steering wheel
return.
