Hesitation
ok i recently bought a 1987 4runner that has a LC engineering 1989 pro stroker 22re EFI motor. which was installed about 1k miles ago.
Ive had the vehicle for a few weeks now and today while driving it started hesitating in first or second gear and no higher. would only lose power for a split second then right back to normal. would do this a time or two while going through first and in second but no more after that. a check engine light did come on but i cant get into my bro's shop untill tomorrow to see what the codes are.
wanted to see what you all think. is it my TPS?
Also the owner before me replaced the fuel pump and drained the tank just before the motor was installed. i checked the plugs and they are all fine, air cleaner is in great shape.
any feed back on this would be appreciated ty all

First check all the duct work between the the air inlet and the throttle body housing for loose or damaged connections. Next remove the MAF meter from the tubing and inspect the screen, hot wire elements and surrounding areas for debris and obstructons/blockage. If you think the sensor is dirty still they make special MAF cleaner, use only specified cleaner per the FSM* It will also help you to figure out how to inspect the MAF a little more specifically but quite easy really. Do not attempt to physically clean the sensor elements though. You can also connect a meter to the sinal wire and a good ground(block) and check for continuity with the engine running, voltage should be between .5 - 5v lightly tap the sensor housing while observing your readings to verify signal. sorry so long, hope this helps and WELCOME!

right on.. ty dubbs. i crossed the diag ports and the check engine flashed twice and that says air flow meter. drove her today and she never hesitated or lost power once. ill have her up at the shop tomorrow to see exactly what the issue is. ty for the replys every1
