help! my 4wd doesnt work!

help! my 4wd doesnt work!

ok so i have a 1990 pickup withh the a.d.d.
i just bought new cv axles for both sides. i tried h4 and l4 and my truck just bounces and idk so i got scared and put it back on h2 and it didnt want to go back to normal so i just reversed then i went back into place.. what should i do? do i need a new differential? im so lost..

Do you have the same tire size and gearing front and rear? What sort of terrain did you try 4WD out on (pavement or dirt)?

33's front 32's back and i tryed on street pavement.
im buying matching 33's today for the rear today. hope that works

Surprised something did not break, you need the same size tires and using part time 4WD (like you have) on pavement is not a good idea (for the reasons you posted).

ahh i see so if i had manual hub locks would that be considered part time too? also i just bought rear 33's and tested the 4wd down my driveway it felt like a bazillion times better. thanks

Yes, only if you have a center differential (in the transfer case) would you have full time 4WD.

oh ok i get ya! heres my last question. what parts could of broke when i had the different size tires and tried the 4wd? cuz i kinda want to buy new or used front and rear drive shafts. would that be good?

Likely nothing broke, but could be anything. Likely the CV joints on the front axle shafts would be the most likely parts to fail.
