hell bent steel leveling kit for '10 taco

I just bought my brand new taco regular cab 4x4 and I am ready to trick it out alittle bit. I have been looking at leveling kits to give it a better stance and I see a big range of manufactures and a huge price difference. Pro Comp 2.5" is $220 and the Hell Bent Steel 2.5" is $75. Any advice?

I did a Daystar leveling kit on my '05 taco and ended up having to do a rear AAL because it leveled it too much. Personally cheap doesn't alway equate to a good deal. I know nothing about he'll bent products but recommend revtec or toytec

I put the kit on it the front and it raised it too much.

So the front was higher than the rear.

Anyone have any complaints/praises for using a leveling kit? I know it is a cheap way to lift, but how does it affect the ride, handling, etc.???

If your going to level the front of one of today's taco's, do it right. I personally don't recommend any of the strut spacers, whether they preload the coil or go on top. The kits that preload the coil give a rather harsh ride, and the over the top spacers just drop everything, with no other real benifits... Just my two cents...

Thanks for the info 250000. I've always thought they were probably rough and hard on the vehicle.

On the kind that go over the coil springs, what do they do to the ride? Are they hard on CV boots and stuff. With a previous toyota I had (which had coil spacers) it seemed rougher, stiff in front, and also started ripping my CV boots.

From: Bryan Tx,
The best bang for the buck in leveling a newer Tacoma is a set of Bilstien 5100 adjustable struts. You can set them at 0, .75, 1.25, 1.75 & .25" by raising the lower spring seat. I would not recomend putting the at 2.5" because the ride will start getting rough. I have mine set at 1.75" and they ride better that the factory Billy's. They can be had for around $250.

X2 on previous post, those adjustable strut systems are super cool. Have an 03 taco and used ome,s heavy duty coils to lift the front. It lifted too much and had to put an add a leaf in the rear as well!
