heater core question

Alright, I have no clue how to word this for the search for this question, I tried searching but didn't come with any results.

My question is, would the heater core off of a 86 pu work straight across with a 90 pu?

Thanks in advance.

Not necessarily. 90 pickup could be a V6.
My gut says no regardless.

Doing a quick search on rock auto shows different part numbers, so probably no. A little googling says 84-86 may be compatible, and 89 to 95 may be compatible.

Perfect didn't want to waste time Saturday pulling a core if it wasn't compatible, thank you.

From what I've found (part number wise), here are your compatable vehicles for the heater core:

Do you really want to go to all that trouble and put a used heater core in??

Make sure you pressure test it before installing it would be a pain to do again.

Good point wyoming. The core that I found was working great and I was going to get it for free so I was going to go through the trouble for a used core. But, sense it won't fit, I scrapped the idea.
