gears or engine

I have a 02 tacoma sr5,it has 6 inches of lift with 33" tires, would like to go to a 35"tire but it doesnt have much power now, what would be my best bet changing eng.or gears.it has a 4cyl.in it right now, also for gas mileage.

Dual T-Case with stock diffs. Run 235's when not wheeling for fuel mileage. Tire weight goes up related to the square or cube of the diameter. So for every inch larger tire, your tire weight goes up quite dramatically.

In mountaineering they say that every pound on your feet takes as much effort as 5 lbs on your back. Similar is probably true for trucks & tires...

Wow, be glad this is in the newbie section ...

Let's see, gears will cost about $1000 ... a 3.4L V6 swap would be about $3000 ... yeah, I think gears are the cost effective way to go.

I would just look into some gears, with gas prices you are fine with the 4banger. The way you are now some 4.88's woud be fine but if you plan to go 35's I would consider 5.29's. Just my 2 cents.

5.29's are my vote if your going 35's, for 33's 4.88's will do.
