Hey everyone this is my first thread Iv'e posted hope you can help me out. Ive got a 90 toyota truck with dual transfercases, 5.29 gears and detroit lockers. Ive been trouble shooting this gear chatter i get at higher speeds(35-up) while coasting or in nuetral, kinda stops if im on the gas though for about a month and just cant figure it out. Any help would be appreciated?

 

I know I get some gear noise with my dual cases...
but I am thinking yours might be a throw out bearing, 5 spd?

 

Ya I just had the 5 speed rebuilt 2 months ago and new clutch not saying that it could be messed up. I took the rear driveline out and drove it down the road and the chattering went away? think it could be the locker ratcheting?

 

shouldn't ratchet while going straight.

id pull the diff out and see whats up in there.
