front lockright driving question?

picked up a lockright of craigslist awhile ago and installed it in my 410 front diff. i heard it was suppose to be a pain to drive especially on the street but i can sometimes almost not turn at all . when i lift the truck off the ground and spin one tire its locks unlike my old spartin where it would let one tire spin faster then the other and you could here it click.. is there something wrong with my current front locker if its not unlocking ever or is that just how they are.
i ask this because im about to put in my 488 front diff and plan on using this locker if it works properly

I know my lock right would rarely release on corners. Only when I would coast thru a corner would it release the out side wheel but that was on the rear. I was lead to believe that was normal I was always told there is a reason they are the cheapest.

make it easy on ur self. get some disconnects for the front so it doesn't lock on u as u are turning corners. problem solved.

oh when its not in 4wd getting the factory locking hubs so u can unlock them and im not sure why u would want it locked on the street even in 4wd, i would just lock in one of the hubs and drive like that unless on snow. and even on snow it will let the front slip.

You're driving it on dry pavement while in 4WD and trying to turn?

Don't do that. Causes extreme binding in the drivetrain, especially with lockers. You will break stuff quickly.

so to update . before it on pavement. it would barely turn.. on dirt it was easier... no on pavement. it turns with a little resistance and like normal on dirt.

yes i know its not good to even try it on pavement. but i guess something was put in wrong before. cause its a lot better now with teh new gears
