Flywheel step

I am going to do my clutch soon on my 1997 taco. I am going to put in the marlin crawler clutch. They say to resurface the flywheel step to .025 in lieu of Toyotas .020. I know I may sound like a moron but I want to be able to talk to the machine shop competently. Where is the step and is it higher or lower. What I have in my mind is the area just outside of the clutch disk being higher by .025 of an inch where the pressure plate bolts. Is this right? Thanks

I believe the step is lower on the outside of the clutch disk. When I had mine resurfaced for my 3.4 swap there wasn't even a step when it was done before…

But really .025 versus .020 come on man it's a clutch. Doubt there is any real world difference

I know .005 is like a human hair, but the people at marlin crawler say it makes for a much better wearing clutch...
