Engine Wont Idle
NEW TO SITE. I HAVE A 93 toyota 3.0 dually. just finished putting together new short block and heads. i have checked everything on this truck, and cant find why it will not idle smooth its rough and even turns off at times.if i remove the oil cap from valve cover it turns off. if i remove the breather hose from the air intake tube it turns off.placed new pcv and same problem. like to know if this could be caused by egr or as reed valve. like some suggestions. thank you.

I know very little about Toyotas...new to the site and Toyotas...but I'll throw some ideas out there. I need to learn too.
1) Vacuum leak? Spray some carb cleaner on vacuum lines, and if you have a leak...you'll know it.
2) IAV?

okay if all the vacuum lines are good -I am with joesscamaro on this one-the symptoms are exactly that of a vacuum problem...
then I am thinking that something is plugged or routed to itself that the vacuum lines connect to. I have to think that in the rebuild you took something apart that is now not put back exactly right.
You of course have double and triple checked all of it but you are tired of it and it is much like catching your own spelling errors-better to have a 2nd set of eyes look it over. Of course, free eyes always the best kind.
gots to be some other Miami guys out there that could look it over and spot what you have missed....
Not throwing any error codes obviously.... computer is trying to do its' thing -oxy sensors plugged in and all of that....
just talking... think it out....
let us know please this is how we all learn.
