Drive train stutter

Over the last couple of days I've developed and stutter when taking off from a stop and then it turns into a rumbling vibration at driving speed. It doesn't shake the steering wheel at all but you can feel it in the floor and all over I guess. I'm thinking maybe a u joint, so I greased them up today but it made no difference. Tranny, front/ rear diff oils have been changed with in the last month so I'm thinking that shouldn't be it. Nothing changed on the truck either, as in parts added or work done to cause it. Any ideas?

Torque converter chatter, sounds like to me. Perhaps slippage in the trans? Either way, sounds like a trans problem from the symptoms you describe.

Not good !!!
I should add that the rumbling goes away when I let off the gas and coast while driving.

I don't know much about trannies, if it is the torque converter is this replacable, or should I be looking for a used tranny?

Have had the truck on blocks for a week and a bit now to put my lift on and got to checking the u joints and a rear u joint was bad. Replaced it and the stuttering , shake is gone.

That's actually a pretty rare thing...

vibrations which appear while accelerating and disappear when you let off the throttle are often drive-line related: somewhere between the output of the trans (xfer case) and the rear differential (assuming the vibe occurs when not using 4wd).
U-joints are a common wear item and should always be among the first things checked when there's a vibration when driving.

glad to hear things are fine now.

keep an eye on the rear differential for any leaks since a bad u-joint back there can pound on the pinion and cause the seal to wear.
