Custom Audio Theories
#1
Hello!
Kinda fresh to the forums here and just wanting to ask some possibly dumb questions.
I recently got another Toyota pickup, finally the configuration I've wanted, Xtra Cab V6 5SP 2WD. I've done nothing but random modifications since I got her. There's a pic on my page.
Let's be honest, two factory 4in speakers especially without the dash boxes makes it really hard to hear once you're cruising and you like to have your windows cracked. So I've been slowly modding the audio system. New Kenwood BT AM/FM CD head unit. Sony 4in in the dash, and a pair of 6.5 Sony's that I cut the rear panels to install not knowing there was speaker boxes for them until it was too late, oh well, I can still use my storage behind it so long as it's nothing pointy. As the install has progressed, I had to foam isolate the panels from touching because the stock latch hates vibration and I lothe rattle, and now that that's done it does sound rather nice. I just need some more low end. My thought is, take that rear panel under the jump seat, and cut it out to hold a 8in subwoofer. Nothing more than 500w max, I just want some bass not to vibrate the cab apart. Any thoughts on doing this? I'm not exactly looking to still be able to use the seat once it's done. Hell I'm 6'0" nobody is really going to be able to sit behind me anyway unless they don't have legs. I have a small kicker amp already that a friend gave me but no sub yet. Just trying to figure things out before I go full send and have to wire everything in and do more cutting. The 6.5s took long enough to do. Is there anything that I should watch out for? Has anyone attempted this before? Is that cubby even sealed all around or am I going to have to spray foam/seal it up?? Lemme know your thoughts!

Slowly being retromodded to a regular daily, full LED light conversion. OBD2 upgrade in hypothetical state atm.
