couple of 22r questions

Hey guys, my son has an 85 4x4 with the carbed 22r. The engine needs rebuilding badly. But I have an 84 22r that I believe is in very good shape. My questions are:

I know the 84 and the 85 are different 22r's (deck height and head I believe?) but if you wanted to swap complete engines (both manifolds and all) would it bolt to tranny and exhaust pipes?

Any other problems to prevent the swap?

Is there any way to run a 22r out of the truck to check it? I've done this many times with Ford and Chevy engines but I don't know about the Toyota (mainly the coil, ignition wiring, everything else is simple) I sure would hate to go to all the trouble to install another bad engine.

Thanks for any and all help!
Chuck

Nevermind. I got into it today and yes, it will bolt up. Exhaust manifold is different, but will still bolt to exhaust pipes. Tranny is not a problem either.

BTW, you could use the newer exhaust manifold anyway but it would require a modification. You can use the intake manifold, it will fit. Everything else looks like it will fit. It it requires modification, it will be minor.

Hope this helps someone else out!
