Just did a compression check just wantEd to bounce some numbers to see what the pros say....I'm new to the 22r world but have worked on several new yotas and these numbers seem low. The truck has 328,xxx the previous owner said motor was just rebuilt 15,xxx miles ago. The numbers are as follows

#1- 110
#2- 125
#3- 110
#4- 115

Lemme know what yall think....btw no water in oil. No oil on plugs. But I do notice quite bit of vapor coming from the forward PVC vent but not so much to indicate a blown ring

 

compression is really low across the board, either rings didn't seat or the guy bored out the motor 40 over and didn't shave the head or didn't take quench into account.

7,000 on mine 20 over, block decked by .010 new head and I was pushing almost too high at 170-173 across the board.

 

Yea imnot sure about the guy who rebuilt it but it seems like he really didnt give a ˟˟˟˟ I found loose bolts, missing bolts, and some serverly ghetto rigged stuff. Can really complain got the truck for 1200 bucks but seems like it's a little weak on the low end. But I am also on 32" tires. But it handles great in 4x4 and will pull a f250 out of a ditch no problems

 

I forgot to mention the mods, a weber carb not sure which model, and long tube headers that are frakenstiened with weld globs....I need new headers but might try and find stock mani to temp fix til I get some new headers

 

If the motor wasn't rebuilt i would say its about right for a 300k 22r.... But otherwise... theres issues that need attending too.

 

I'll just let it ride it runs smooth just took it for a test drive after removing the oil pan flushing all the bad oil I could get out of it, replacing oil pan gasket, removing intake manifold completely cleanin that sucker out, taking the carb apart cleaned it reassembled, replace intake manifold gasket and flushing the coolant. Smooth idle no sputter, responsive acceleration, and I do have some restored low end torque so I'll see how it handles for a bit, its just a toy/DD. I got my 2007 Tacoma x-runner if I do need to rebuild the motor thanks for the help.

 

I'm rebuilding mine, had the blowby out the front vent, ran smooth as silk above idle, just wouldn't idle below 1100rpm, I had 110, 70, 80 120.........worn rings, lol, worn everything. Even with the low comp., the motor should still go awhile longer. Imo
