Clutch Q.

I have an 86 4Runner 22re 5 speed with 330K on it. I need to replace the clutch and had a question about compatibility. The guy who I bought this vehicle off of told me it had a later model 5 speed in it, I'm assuming he's talking about a W56. I wanted to know the way too I.D. the Trans and is there a difference in the W55 / W56 as far as the clutch is concerned. I bought this 4Runner about 8 months ago just to commute with and keep the miles off my other vehicle. However, It's quickly proving itself to be a great vehicle so It's time to show it some love. I should point out, this is my first post on yotatech. Usually, all my searches turn up all the answers and results I need. Great job on the sight. Also, I plan on running a Marlin Crawler 1200psi clutch.

Thanks All.

I think the only diffences i've noticed have been the throw out bearings were different in those early years. Or for some reason we had difficulty finding the right one for a buddies 88. Besides that the pilot bearing, clutch plate and pressure plate should be the same.

That's what I figured. I had a feeling any differences would be small.

Just noticed your from Kirkland. Odds are your not far from me, as I live in Kirkland as well.

I'm up on finn hill next to Finn hill jr high, where abouts are you?

Yeah the throw out may or may not be an issue. Push come to shove give Rob or Mattew at Toyota of Kirkland a shout. Tell them Vitaly sent you.

Im up on 137th at the top of Albertsons hill by Juanita.

Yeah if push comes to shove I'll check with the guys down a Totem lake toyota. They have been helpful in the past. Namely, when I needed a wiring schematic for the rear window on the 4Runner. I'll keep an eye on this thread for a few days and see if anything else comes up. Otherwise I'll check with Marlin's customer service when I finally order this clutch.

hahahahaha Dude, I think your like 3 houses down from mine. That;s wild man, never would have guessed that.

I'll call it in for sure. I've seen many people on here " complain " about order/ delivery time with Marlin.
