a/c pulley spins when a/c is not running...

a/c pulley spins when a/c is not running...

do you think i can just leave it alone? or will everything fail eventually? what about just disconnecting it. has anyone done this?

Are you talking about the outside of the pulley? If so, that is normal, as it always turns when the engine is running. But when you turn the A/C on, then the clutch inside the pulley locks up and actually turns the compressor.

I just got an 85 4runner and it sounds like the bearing on the outer a/c pulley is starting to seize... curious if disconnecting the a/c is advisable. I live in colorado and a/c is not important to me... would more hp also.

It's normal for the pulley to spin in correspondence with the engine

You could remove the belt

yep... remove the belt from the AC pulley won't hurt a thing
