Every brand of oil. I'm just saving the hassle of 20 people posting about 20 different brands. Some like synth, some like dino. I like Amsoil, the next guy likes Castrol.
Your thermostat is probably stuck open if it is running too cold. If it's having a hard time starting it could be the battery.

Most of the Toyota guys I know run Castrol, it seems to hold more pressure.
I don't know why older Toyota's seem to always have very low oil pressure at idle, I've noticed that with almost all my Yotas and Castrol does seem to help....it may be foolishness but it makes me feel better to actually see a reading on the gauges at idle.

It doesn't usually get cold enough here to warrant changing your viscosity for the winter, although lately it has gotten in the mid 30s
if you really wanna know about oil (who would though??) check out http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/. i had no idea oil was so complicated... anyways, i just run penzoil, and whatever my oil cap tells me to
