Exclamation bed conversion

ok so im kind of new here and i thot of this project that i have really been thinking about and i thot i would pass it by here since its purely toyota people.

i bought a 1986 toyota pickup and it came with a wood flatbed and it looks like it is straight out of australia. i really want a bed on my pickup but i want a challenge and a unique pickup. i was wondering if anybody knows how a 1989ish toyota pickup bed would look on my pickup or you know anybody has done it.

i dont care if none of the mounts mate, i got a welder and can weld. im just wondering if the lines would work. thanks for looking

Same frame, so its the right dimensions... the mounts are probably the same too as I doubt they changed the frame one iota to accommodate the new body in 1989.

Well if it's a long bed, you'll have a challenge just finding a 89-94 bed...

Then, since when did straight and angular look good with rounded and smooth?

damn dude your a welder...make whatever you want...sky's the limit.

I've got a Mazda B2200 box on my '88 but I had to pay someone to do that.

since car (box) cancer was popular on pre 90's toyota's good luck find a decent box and then keeping it rust free.

I didn't do this one in the pic but someone with some mad skillz did. It's for sale around here for $10k and basically the only thing Toyota about it was the cab.LOL

Buddy got mad fab skillz though...

on the subject of beds... I just found 3 great looking ones with small issues at a pull-a-part... But what sucks is they're 2WD... And I don't know if you can get the fender piece over the wheel well and how easy it is to install it.

A 89-95 bed will not look good... or near as good as a flatbed on a 84-88...

I know. I'm driving an 84 flatbed right now.

And damn! What a truck, Canuk!

89 beds on an 86-88 truck looks just queer, BUILD a flatty. There are some great build threads, take a look.

i saw some pics of the 89-95 bed on a 86 and yea, it doesnt look that good. im thinking about a nice metal flatbed so i can have a good looking pickup and also be able to haul around yard trimmings and lawn mowers for work.
