Bed Accessory Suggestions

hey all
went down to the beach last weekend, met a guy with a sweet setup on a black 95 pu 22re 5sp regular cab, and a bed cap. i've searched around a bit, but am having trouble finding caps to fit. in the meantime, i just wanted some opinions on what to put back there. i have a tool box and plastic liner now, but i'm open to any and all ideas. i kinda like the look of a sloped cap, but i can't even find a picture of one. oh well.

Well do what you think looks good, but since you asked....I think caps are stupid, plastic bed liner is great for trapping moisture, and beds are good when you do not off-road alot. My opinion is to build a flatbed to suit your needs, do some searching there are a lot of good ideas. Again my opinion.

loose the plastic liner get some spray in bed liner. Personally I like the look of caps but it all depends what you use your truck for if you haul lots of stuff no cap, if you wheel more then flat bed. If I had a pickup I would do a flat bed.

Bob the bed 10-12 inches.
Sell it and buy a 4Runner if you want an SUV

the truck's primary function is to get me to work and school, then to haul random junk to the dump and around town. the reason for a cap would be to keep things dry and locked up without getting the cab messy. (oh, yeah, and the title is under my dad's name still so i can't really bob it) i would very much like build my own bed box, something like a big lego system where i could put different things on depending on what i needed.

edit: the plastic liner came with the truck, but i do plan on getting the spray on sometime soon

This is the ultimate look IMO - I've wanted to do something like this for a LONG time.

I like that set up the best too Fink. A flatbed would be great if you have access to a fab shop.

I honestly can't remember - I want to say it was a Surco Safari rack that he fabbed up to be removeable.
I think it mounts inside the deckrail system.

I had a design mocked up to have Wabbit build but I got distracted and decided against it for now - I'll be getting a new truck soon so I'll wait until then.

OP,

This would be easy to do for you since you don't have the deckrail system and you can mount it directly to your bed rail with bolts and some backing plates.

^^^ Idk i havent looked into it at all cause i got a 4runner. you would probably have to do some looking around. check autopart store sometimes they can order them, like i know pepboys here can. or if you have any truck or 4x4 shops they might have something

You'll most likely just have to measure your bed and see - it's hard to find places that carry products specifically for Toyota trucks.

At least that's been my experience with my Tacoma.

i'm thinking of making my own bed rail system, something that i can still mount the toolbox to, yet add other things as well. i might have to take a trip to the hardware store for ideas this weekend, along with measuring the bed size

edit: when i asked what size, i thought that there was a size made for another truck that would also fit a pu

Mine had a shell on it when I bought it. An old Brahma. But it does have the extra 4" bump for more headroom. I sealed the hell out of it, put in some led lights, and built a cheap platform out of 2X3s and plywood covered in carpet. Now I use it to camp in. I have room for me and my wife up top and all our clothes, food, stove, etc below the platform. Good stuff.
