Is it bad to leave ECT on all the time?

I have 265mm tires on my truck with a 22RE and an auto tranny. Basically, I find my truck gets up to speed quicker and cruises easier with ECT button on. My question is, does this cause more wear on the tranny or the motor, or is there another reason it should be used carefully? Also, ECT is supposed to diminish mileage, but it seems I'm on the gas a lot less with it on. Would the bigger tires offset the loss in mileage it has with the stock tires, or am I just imagining things?

Is it bad to have 500rpm higher shift points all the time?

It won`t hurt anything, it just raises your shift points, and you gas mileage will probably go down a little.

That depends on how many mm's the stock tires were...

The higher shift points over time will probably wear your tranny/TC out a little faster, but I have left my ECT on almost continuously for 9 years with no ill effects. As for gas mileage, I personally have never seen a noticeable difference.

If 711.2mm equals 29", then your right. I did it by...um...bolting on a set of 3rd gen rims that had that size tire on them. They only rub at extreme steering lock.. It's geared to 4:30, about equivalent to 4:10s on a 5-speed.

Brian: Thanks for the info, makes me feel a lot better about the tranny, but judging by your sig, I'm guessing your 'runner has a V6. Anyone know how the higher shift points affect a 22RE?
