axle swap

well after figuring out my hubs are friend on my 87 ifs. and new manual ones plus the conversion are gonna cost 300$.
im going with a strait axle complete for the same price.

questions for the built tho... it has a 4 inch lift from les schwab on the ifs so i need to match the back. what do i need to get 4 inch lift on front axle?
shock specs
leaf spring specs
shackle specs
shock hoop specs
any other parts i need?

im not going to buy the conversion kit for 1000 bucks, i get autozone parts at 50% off. so will be using that mostly. and the local junk yard.
so i just need to know everything i would need

Ask the guy at autozone for the specs or spend some time searching.
All the info is there

What exactly do you plan on buying at Autozone that will be of ANY use for a straight axle, or flexy suspension, lockers, tires, beadlocks, etc. Shocks maybe.

Stay away from autozone, and talk to WabFab or Front Range Fab

um...a driveshaft maybe?

Don't think I've heard of anyone breakin a hub and then deciding at that moment to rip the entire front suspension off to go with a SA....That's kinda like needing to do an oil change but instead swapping in a entirely different motor...just sayin...

Oh and $300 for manual hubs is ridiculous.....

yea but at the cost i got the axle for. i mine as well do it. plus if i keep ifs i need new rotors, calipers, and orlly cvs by now. the whole ifs is going bad slowly. plus ive rolled to many times due to ifs. its time for sas

ive custom cut and welded plenty of drive lines so local auto wrecking well have one i just need to cut down and weld.

does anyone have any specs or drawings for hangers front and rear?
metal size/thickness ect ect

I wouldn't blame this on the front suspension. I'd blame it on bad driving.

Lockers, Bigger tires, better brakes, Long, hub gears, stud kit (or six-shooters) etc etc etc.

The list is really never done. If you break your IFS stuff now, you are going to do the same thing to your SFA stuff. I never broke anything wheeling my IFS ever, not even an axle. I upgraded to Longs and geared down when doing my SAS, but I hope I never need all that strength. Its good to know I have it though.
