Automatic Transmission Fluid
Hello folks, I have been searching all over this forum lookin for a thread regarding how and what kind of tranny fluid should I put in my truck. It's a 91 Toyota deluxe pickup 2wd automatic with 171k. All I see is 4x4 or v6 and I'm
Not sure if I have the same situation as the 4x4 where you have to change the diff oil and the t case oil. Thank you

I checked the dip stick this morning when I parked the truck over night so it's cold. But when I took the dip stick out of the oil
The oil level was pass hot, that was what the stick showed. Is that normal? Shouldn't the oil level be on the cold level instead of passing the hot level on the stick? Also the oil thats recommended for the truck is dexon II and I couldn't find the specfic oil just dexon ii. They only have dexon ii mixed with mexon. Is that still ok to use?

Dextron 3 will work just fine, its more or less an improved updated version of dextron 2...
Did you check the fluid with the truck running? Thats how you have to check the fluid or it will look like its over filled.
If its reading at the hot mark while running but on a cold engine then its slightly overfilled and not to big and deal but you should definatly correct the fluid to its respective level.
Your 2WD truck does not have a Trasfer case. And yes you should service the Rear Differential fluid every so often. 80W90 Gear oil for that.
