Thumbs up any good Toy mechs in the 972/214?

Guys,

Need some help finding a good Toyota mech in the 972/214 area code (Dallas).

Need the manifold gaskets changed (I have the Downey headers) and my regular diagnostic/repair all makes shop doesnt want to tackle it.

Figure I need a good Toy mech that wont balk at the job.

Any great places or those to stay away from would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike

I think any half way decent exhaust shop could replace the manifold gaskets for you no problem at very little cost to you. For that matter, any minimally skilled mechanic or shop should have no problem just replacing those gaskets. Good Luck.

Well, the exhaust shop I went to in Plano said they considered it motor work and it was too time consuming, (removing plenum, etc....), general auto shop I go to didnt want to tackle it either.

I wanted to find somebody that knew Toys so it would take less mechanic time and hence be cheaper.

Thx Pruney.

I used to live in DFW and I never really came across a mechanic that specialized in older Toyota's. Hope you find one.

Midas in Plano will F*@k you and then rob you if your not careful, they did all the brake and tranny work on my wifes old jeep, a month later I drove offshore and then home, no e-brake, rear brakes leaked and the rear end had no oil and burned up. Now is it only the gasket, or is it the header also?

if you drive up to Denton there is a great toyota mechanic at the shell rapid lube right off loop 288. He knows his stuff and wont screw you over.
