I'm new here with my '96 limited t4r (love it btw!) quick question...


I was driving tonight and flipped my brights on, when I did this i realized there was a point where the high and low beams were on at the same time. I had to hold the high/low knob at that exact position to keep it up though.The road was illuminated way beyond how it is with just the high or just the lows. I am wondering if it is possible to have a switch or some way to make this a permanent thing for driving at night. I am planning to getting some off road lights but until then it would be nice. Anybody ever do this or attempt this?

What brand of headlight harness do most people use? I need to get one but which one?!

Alright guys I just bought the H4 harness. What headlights are most people using with the greatest results. I'd like to have some bright bright lights so i can see better at night! thanks

 

You might want to consider switching to the 99+ headlight assembly. That, combined with the harness upgrade will give you a TON more light than your 96's stock (or my 97, as the case may be). A chunk pricier than the harness, but definitely will give you plenty more light without costing you in bulb lifetime or anything like that.

I've *heard* (heresay hat on) that you'll yield about 30% more light from the harness, and about the same from the headlight assembly. I don't know the numbers, but it's for dang sure a lot better than it was.

After that, you're talking switching bulbs, and that's someone else's bailiwick... I haven't done that.

Or going to a HID conversion, which I've avoided because it's very hard (and illegal) to do it right.

 

I just made my own headlight harness for $16 canadian. The lights are unbelievibly brighter. With the truck off before the wiring upgrade, I only had 10v at the headlight. Now I have the full battery supply (12.8 truck off 13.8 truck on). I will post my wiring diagram once I get home from work.

It would be easy to wire your low beams to stay on with your highbeams on with a third relay. I will draw up a wiring diagram for that too.

you will over heat the bulb by burning both filaments at the same time, this causes the life span of the bulb to be short.

 

Is there any way not to over heat the bulb? It really is amazing having both high and low on while wheelin. Maybe a higher quality bulb? Also what bulbs are most people using? I'm not a big fan of silverstars, they always burn out fast although they are bright while they last.
