Exclamation Edit: 1988 4runner Build

Advice needed!! 88 4runner roll over damage-fix it or?

Hey guys, really needing some input on what to do.. so I have an 88 4runner that I tipped on its side awhile back. Im looking to get it fixed (just the body , she still runs strong!) and it turns out its going to be pretty spendy... About $2500. The 4runner is almost all stock so i havnt put to much money into it.. So guess the question is should I fix it up and keep or sell and cut my losses?

Edit: Actual build starts on page 2 -->

The areas that have the most damge is the pillar and the panel by the taillight. The rest dosnt bother me. I know it wont be pretty again, but the pillar bothers me because its a structural part of the cab and if it happens again I dont want it to collapse. And thats the part that is costing me so much money beacuse they will have to cut and weld a new one. ill post some pics in as soon as i can.

Fix it, fix it, FIX IT!!!!!!! keep it, drive it, look for other price quotes, look for any of your friends that can weld and see if they will help, or fix it yourself if you can!!!
Lets see some pics!

that looks like damage just to the exterior body panel over the pillar, if the internal structure is good than your good try using a dent puller. Thats what it looks like from the pic anyways.

Check for water leaks around the A-pillar. If you dont have any leaks via the windshield or door then chances are the structural integrity of the pillar has not been compromised (i.e. bent, twisted). Looks mostly cosmetic from the picture.
I can guarantee those dents wont pull out though. I spent 3 years doing PDR and pillars are a PITA to even fix small dings on. Very rigid metal.

*edit: spelling

If the structural integrity has not been compromised what do you think about bondo? Just to make it look better?

I would get a quote from another body shop. Bondo alone wont really fix it due to some of the smiles (high spots created by the metal flexing). All depends on what your expectations are. That will take a lot of mud to fill and that usually ends up with a lousy finish.

Get a quote from a body shop that doesnt want your first-born as a down payment.

Alright thanks everyone! Still open to suggestions , probably won't do anything for a couple weeks anyway. I'll post more pics when I decide what to do with it!

yeah man you didnt even crack the windshield. does the door still open and close? it doesnt look that bad at all. If you wheel alot, make it a trail rig/beater. 2500 bucks, you could get a decent safe exo cage for half that. 2500 bucks could get you a new 4runner that same year. 2500 bucks could get you a solid axle swap done professionally. I would keep your money for offroad mods, especially if its still driveable

You mean you had the windshield replaced without replacing the A pillar??

Or you just want a new windshield ??

It has to come out to replace the A pillar why pay for the labor twice and take the chance it breaks and your buying another windshield .

I am curious just what all was quoted in the estimate was the whole vehicle to be painted or just the right side??

I'd put the money into a roll cage, and pocket the rest. How exactly did you end up rolling the 4Runner?

At the time I didnt have the money to fix the pillar and its my daily driver so I needed a windshield. And the quote is for the rear and the pillar. The rear isn't to expensive just the pillar.

From the pics it looks like the cars exterior is the only thing that has taken damage. If I were you I would put that $2500 and invest in the car. Also how did your car tip? lol
