99 4Runner Upper Ball Joint Problem

I searched on here and everyone says replacing the ball joints is an easy task on the 3rd gen 4Runner. The lower was no problem on or off. The upper had a good amount of rust and I had to beat it for about 5 mins with a BFH before it popped out. Now the new one will not easily slide in.

From what I read I don't need to press it is. It seems way too tight for it to pull in place when placed in the UCA and starting to thread.

Am I missing something obvious? I did sand out the old hold removing any of the old rust.

you're supposed to press those out with a tool, you can rent it free at autozone.

I get to do mine before too long.... hooray!

The method in that thread looks like a pain. Do what aa1911 suggested the press is used to remove and also reinstall the new ball joint. It takes a good bit of force to get it out and back in.
