there is a bench seat so there is no place for one. there is a section of the seat that folds down for a arm rest. are you talking about the shifter area or the seat area?

pictures would be nice. Im willing to bet someone swapped in some bucket seats, but did not put out the extra $ for the center console, hit up the local junkyards an find one out yota with bucket seats, my local junkyard wanted an extra 50 for it.

The SR5 model with buckets came with a centre console without rear heat. They are available from some toyota wreckers but are hard to find these days [I'm looking for one myself]. The consoles from the 4runner are the same externally but only have a very shallow storage area under the armrest because of the rear seat heater located inside it.
The truck console is secured to the floor with u-shaped brackets that are spot-welded to the floor, you could easily fab your own and bolt them in with very little difficulty though.
The 4runner console is secured to the floor at the front and the top of the heater at the rear and would need some slight modification if you were to use one of these.
Hope this helped aviator

Get the center console from a truck. The 4runner console has bearly ANY storage space.

Hard to find? I got one for a 4runner for free

I was talking about the consoles for the truck, the 4runner ones are a dime a dozen.

Hehe, yeah. You are right on that note. The truck ones are 100000x better though I can't even fit my sun glasses in my g/f's 4runner center console. I could fit a small dog in my truck one
