Exclamation 91' 4-runner Engine.

I have a 91' 4-runner 3.0 that has 148,000 miles. It is in GREAT condition, and still runs fine. Considering its a v6, it burns a lot of gas, and does not have the power that I want. Are there v8 engines that will fit a 91' 4runner that can somehow be adapted? Or is there any way I can significantly increase the power for a decent price?

dont bother with a v8 if your stressed about gas, search for 3.4 swap toyota reliability good power, and its a relativly easy swap

I'm not too stressed about the gas, but if I'm gonna be using as much as I do, then I want an engine thats worth it. My v6 eats just as much as many
v8 engines. I'll look into the 3.4 swap tho... any other suggestions?

The 3.0's power/economy ratio IS seriously out of whack. The 3.4 is a MUCH better motor - more power, better gas mileage, AND more free space in the engine bay. It's just wrong on SO many levels! LOL

There have been a variety of swaps performed, 4.3L Chevy, 350 Chevy, Lexus V8 ... search around and you'll find tons of info.

www.offroadsolutions.com for tons of 3.4 swap info. Note that a body lift is highly recommended to clear the intake, especially if you want to supercharge it.

I would recomend the 3.4 Toyota swap, proven reliability, and a proven swap, if your still searching for power there is always the TRD charger, and URD Fuel Mods. Check out Mt_Goat 's thread on his 3.4 swap here on the boards, its one of the best IMHO. I love reading that thread.
EDIT: Here is a link to his thread. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160/3-4-swap-started-82145/
