can i safely tow a 93 toyota 4x4 ext cab V6 pickup on a tow dolly with my 90 yota ?. going about 10 miles.

how far? hills? engine in the 90? And if you do, make sure you remove the rear driveshaft on the yota your towing. I also don't see a trailer hitch on that either.

 

i am worried about weight. i towed a S-10 behind my yota last year and it pushed the rear of the truck into a ditch when i turned into my road. even happen when i went slow to pull into the driveway. it felt like someone gassed the S-10 and shoved my truck into my ditch/yard. it was a homemade dolly with no steering or brakes. it worked by leaveing the steering unlocked on the car being towed. i dont know what happen, but now i am leary about towing another vehicle. is the rear of my truck to light ?. i plan on renting a nice dolly. you think my truck will be fine towing teh same truck ?. be going about 10 miles

 

same truck + dolly = heavier than truck towing with. sure people do it, but is it safe? sounds like you've experienced the answer first-hand.

 

Sounds like he just took a turn too fast and too tight and the truck he was towing still wanted to go forward. How do you think Tractor trailers Jacknife? The trailers they are towing are a heck of a lot heavier then the truck that's actually pulling it. Sounds more like driver error to me. I want to say towing capacity of the truck is 5500lb???? not sure though. Curb weight on my 87 is 3850 with my flatbed and a heck of alot of tools in it. Not sure what the curb weight of a stock truck is though.

 

i toed my 79 yota that was heavier than my 2wd ranger with a tow bar about 55 miles in rush hour. its fine but when turning and hitting the brakes it will jackknife you. you need to slow to a crawl and then turn with a little throttle, worked for me

 

Judging by the lack of rot on the truck you pictured, I doubt you're close to me, but if you are, I'll tow you for gas money. I'm sure my 3/4 ton will do the job.

Fill in your location, there may be someone close who can help out. I wouldn't tow that heavy with your Yota, but I'm a worst case scenario type of guy.

when towing the S-10 it would push me even when i was at a crawl trying to turn into my drive. only on right turns. for some reason i dont think the S-10 steering was working right, but the colunm was unlocked so who knows.
i was a wrecker driver for 7yrs and towed many cars, but that S-10, damp roads and homemade dolly wasn't a good combo for my yota. i think ill get my buddys yukon to tow it for me . thanks, guys ...perry in michigan

 

being a michigan truck my toyota is not too bad. and i got it super cheap from a buddy. the 93 i just bought for really cheap also. its all stock and pretty decent shape. but automatic trans. maybe the wife will like driveing it better than my 5spd .

 

It is now a moot point but something had to not be correct between the home made tow dolly the S10 and your Tow vehicle.

I towed 2 Toyota 4x4 pickups on a tow dolly with my 87 4Runner (22REC) both well over 100 miles without any problems.

It was not my tow vehicle of choice but common sense and years of driving got the job done.

 

here is the $500 yota that we towed home. that makes 2 trucks now i payed $500 each for. atleast i drove my grey one home.
both front fenders have rust holes. rest of the truck looks good. under neath is good shape and frame still has black paint on it. decent stock truck.

 

Looks a lot like the 94 I picked up this summer. Same color and everything-but yours is in a little better shape. Great find for five bills.
