86 4 runner not starting

I have a good running 4runner at least till yesterday. Weather is very cold. It has been taking longer to crank over to start. Now today wont start. Has had tune up ignition wise. Will fire off with starter fliud. Just a pop. Any help would be great. I am a tech just not for these trucks.

I have '87 and have been having similar troubles. Mine has 22re motor. In normal weather conditions, it never seems to completely warm up. Now with cold weather, it starts but doesn't want to, wants to die until warms up a bit. With much research I'm looking at my cold start system. I'm just having trouble figuring out the componets of the system on my truck. How is your oil? Fuel in the oil indicates an issue of engine temperature. Can be also caused by thermo stuck open. I'll let ya know if I find out anything else.

My truck had an issue kinda like that; I kept blaming the starter. Turns out I just had a bad battery. Is your battery good?

Battery is new. It is a fuel issue for sure. Got a manual last night. Going to check to see if fuel pump is working. Possibly replace fuel filter. I was considering the cold start injector might be giving me fits. I love the truck just having some new owner blues.

That is the point of the fuel pump test jumper (link above).

what about the cold start injector? ignition switch have good contacts? plugs, wires? check those things and check continuity as well...never know where a bad wire is.

I had the same problem your having after i got my 86 4Runner, it was running good and then nothing, it wouldn`t start. we sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake and it would act like it wanted to start, but thats it. I had good fuel presure and spark but still nothing. It turned out to be a bad solenoid resister, so i swapped it out for a spare one that i had and my 4Runner started on the first try.
