85/87 22rec falling on it's face
#1
Hi guys, just joined yotatech. I Have a problem that i just can;t get straight. I have delt a whole lot (last ten years and more then thirty rigs) with toyota 22r's. About a third of them efi. I'm really wanting to say i have run into this problem before but cant for the life of me remember what the solution was. I'm building an 85 for my brother, stole all the efi out of an 87 and installed it in the 85. Complete wiring harness (everything was swapped over). The trucks starts up just fine, idles fine and once the rpm's are up it seems to run fine. But when your trying to give it gas (espicially from idle) it falls on its face and bogs itself out. if you play with the throttle you can get past it. It spits back through the intake from time to time also. Any ideas please?? we just put the lift and tires and rims on it today and hes excited to get it going. If you need any other info just let me know. thanks A Lot.

Short circuit the terminals of the timing check connector T-E1 and check and adjust the timing, then unshort the connector-22R-E and 22R-TE engines.
1. Connect a timing light to the engine following the manufacturer"s instructions.
5 Degrees
Before top dead center base timing specification
2. Start the engine and run it at idle.
3. Remove the rubber cap from the check connector and short the connector at terminals (T-E), as shown.
4. Loosen the distributor pinch bolt just enough that the distributor can be turned. Aim the timing light at the marks on the crankshaft pulley and slowly turn the distributor until the timing mark is at the desired readings as listed in the "Tune-Up Specifications'' chart. Tighten the distributor pinch bolt.
5. Unshort the connector.

There's one thing. I do away with all my vacuum lines (mostly) did on my 85 truck and 85 4runner. I just copied my trucks block offs and it runs fine, but this is an 87? But no leaks
