5" Lift and only 33" Tires?

I just ordered and received my complete suspension 5" lift from Rough Country. I opened up the box and pulled out the instructions to find out that even with that much of a lift, they say only 33 x 12.50's will fit?

It this correct?

I haven't bought my tires yet, I didn't plan on going above that tire size anyway, I'm just curious.

What are you putting the lift on? Kinda hard to answer the question without that bit of info.

We need more info than that. Like what kind of truck/runner do you have? Solid axle or IFS? But since i hear about a lot of folks running up to a 33 at stock height i would imagine that you could easily run a 35 or even bigger tire on just about any 4x4 toyota with 5 inches of lift. Oh yeah...what kind of lift? Bracket? New Leafs?

Might be the case. Not sure what vehicle this is being installed on, but 4" IFS kits generally fit 33x12.50 tires:

One issue is that they often require wheels with 3.5" of so backspacing to clear the front suspension. Those wheels push the tires out wider and that makes it harder to fit the tire in the front wheel wells without rubbing. Basically the wider you go the more lift you need for a given size tire. Here is a '94 p/u with 33x12.50s with only a 1" body lift and ~1" suspension lift:

my 4runner has a 4" lift and they recommended 33 x 12.5 with a 3.75 backspace on the rim to clear the upper control arm but with a slight bit of pinch weld trim I fit 35's no problem.

I talked to someone at Pro Comp and they said the reason the recommend 33's is because of the weight difference between the 33's and 35's and that they designed the new spindles for the less weight of the 33's but have had many people say they run the 35's with no problem but still will not advertise the 35's will work because of the original design being for the 33's weight.

I have a 94 p/u with a 4" tuff country bracket lift, and 33x13.50s. My tires rub a little even when turning on a flat surface. off kilter is even worse. part of it is due to the offset of the rims pushing the tire out farther, but I can imagine with 35s and a 5 inch you may run into the same problem...

Sorry, I thought I had changed my sig...didn't take, that or I screwed it up.

I have a 1994 4Runner, 3.0, 4WD, 168000 miles.

Got in the 5" suspension and front steering set in today...now if the global warming would kick in and stop this zero degrees we have here.

I have IFS and the lift is bracket, springs, shocks...here's the link:

That should spell things out a bit better.

Here are some pics of my old 91 with a 4-5" Pro Comp lift and 33x12.5's on 15x8's. The lift is pretty much the same as the Rough country you are getting. I had no issues with rubbing.

Yes it does and is the right height I am looking for...Thanks!

After the lift and steering system install, it's off to the Rhinoliner shop for a complete spray, coated with aircraft paint over the top of it....I'm trying to decide what color(s) to go with now....
