4Runner to Pickup conversion??????

Hey guys, has anyone done this type of conversion?

You know, remove the top, seal the cab and remove the panels and use steel to replace them.

I have searched this forum and no luck.

Any help would be appreciated...

I have an 87 4Runner that I would like to turn into a pickup...

Its called fabrication. im sure many people have done something like this. I did it to my newer non removable top 4runner but left it open as its a trail only and it dont get to wet anyway. Can very well be done I know this to be true

The best way to do that would be to remove the top, take out the back seats, get a canvas "soft back" made to go behind the cab and seal it off and then pick up the "rear seat delete" plate that bolts into the cargo area. Toyota offered the plate as a factory option on 1st gen runners that didn't have rear seats. It was basically a pickup truck with a removable top.

I have seen this mod a few times here. I can't recall who has done them right now. If I think of it I'll let you know.

I want to make some kind of steel plate that would bolt in to seal off the cab area. Vehicles with soft tops are always broken into around here. Anyone got any pictures?
