350 or 4.3 swap
Hey guys I'm new to this forum, I've swapped 2 22rs in my 87 pick up and just spent a main bearing in the second one. Looking to swap a 350 or 4.3 in it ! I just have a few questions. Which do u guys recommend ? I know the 4.3 is way easier to keep cool and has plenty of power. But I'm also balling on a budget guys. Give me a estimate total cost of the swap please for each. Thanks

i would spend some time looking at different swaps here:

a lot of it comes down to what sort of deal you can get on a donor engine/computer/harness etc
I almost had a good deal on a low mileage blazer from a guy at work. he was all set to sell it for $500 with only 77K on the odometer...than decided to fix the transmission

I'm in the middle of my 4.3 swap now. Things would be a lot tighter with a 350. I'm barely going to have room for an efan between the radiator and the motor. I think that could be fixed with some effort tho. My first truck was a single cab GMC with the 4.3. I really liked that truck so I'm hoping I'll be satisfied with the 4.3 in my 4runner.

After the guy said he was fixing his blazer that kinda of stopped my, search. .usual deal when I have $$ no good deals, no money there is an abundance of deals..still running a tired 22r with 12 screaming zombie squirrel ninjas under the hood..

SBC would be "all factory parts". Just not from that vehicle, so would be a 3.4 I agree with a V6 you will have more room than say a V8. Really you could swap whatever you wanted to

I have a 94 Toyota 4x4 with a 4.3 and 350 turbo transmission . Its getting pretty tight fitting in the new radiator had to remove anti freeze holder. And Im having to reroute my bottom radiator hose through my power steering hoses.

Well, now I'm stuck with 2 options. Rebuild my 22r with the kit from lceperformance, bored .30 over, machine the block and crank, and port and polish the head. Witch would be a solid little 4cylinder rocket! Or do the swap to a 4.3 or 350.

Now LCE has good advertising but you can cherry pick yourself for a little more fun.
