2.5" diameter enough for snorkel?

2.5" diameter hose is not going to restrict airflow to my airbox any? I need to rebuild my snorkel and the 3.5 inch stuff its to bulky to hide under the fender. Ive heard of people using it but couldnt find any information if it was good enough.

I use 2" PVC tubing for my 22RE snorkel and it seems to work fine:

Flows better than the stock intake tubing with the setup I have now, especially when I replaced the corrugated tubing I initially used between the air box and throttle body with smoother tubing.
