Exclamation 1st generation lifting options

ok. on to the next project of the runner

already have a 4 inch procomp lift. and 33 inch tires

but i wanna go taller and bigger

maybe 35's or 37's

just put 4.88 gears front and rear. so i can handle it.

but the question is...

3 inch body lift?
bj spacers?
any other ideas?

what are the problems people run into with a 3 inch body lift?
how hard is it to put on?
how long does it take?

is there better options.

if i could go bigger then 4 inch suspension. 3 inch body. how? i wanna almost go as tall as possible without doing an sas!

I REPEAT!!! I DO NOT WANNA DO A SAS ON THIS 4RUNNER. ALREADY HAVE A STRAIT AXLED FORD!!!

You'll clear 35's just fine with JUST the 4" lift. Which Procomp lift do you have?

35's are going to be pushing the limits of 4.88's, like 31's push the limits of 4.10's.

I'm mulling about adding a long travel kit to my truck since I have the ProComp Stage II lift with the kickers back to the frame and that should handle things up front.
However, I have 4-5" lift leafs in the rear and do not like blocks, but can't find 8-9" lift leafs so what to do? - I'm pondering having a fab shop make up 4" blocks with ladder bars up to the rear side of the trans crossmember so the springs don't wrap up, and mounting a T100 rear axle so the rear track width is close to the front.

No lift, 35's, 4.88's. It drives like it did stock. I liked the oomph a little better with the 33's.

Get your sawzall and welder out.

Uhhh...
4" lift for a chevy that has 63" long springs.
4" lift, + longer springs, that would net you 8" of lift

couldn't one just take some .120 DOM tubing and make some braces for the bracket lift?? lol

wouldn't be too hard..weld the tube to a plate..then weld the plate to the frame?..or vice versa..

i ask because i have the trail master 4" kit on my 4runner which doesn't have the bracing of the stage II procomp kit, but wouldn't mind adding some just in case i wanna put the LT kit on from Blazeland

4" bracket lift+BL LT kit+35's+5.29's( likely with lockers of course..selectable rear with aussie front)= a baddd mf'n 4runner

could go bigger with tires..but wouldn't be able to stuff em. lol

anyways back on topic here...a 3" body lift would let you be able to clear like 38's with little trimming...of course if ya do some hardcore off roadin then ya might want some 37's or 36's lol

Explorer Pro Comp stage 2 lift

and yea. im just gonna put the body lift on and get it done with. so ill have roughly 7 inches of lift with 35's

welded on a flow master 40 series today. sounds hella nice. not to throaty. but its deep.

next topic is. bumpers

i dont wanna mess with the mouting brackets at all for the marlin crawler bumpers.

but i was thinking of adding another section of tubing to the top of thiers if not 2 more sections that way it comes up to the new level...

does that make sense? or am i talking crazy here?

also i want to weld on diamond plate to the font and back bumpers.

on the front one whereever there is open space. but mainly on the top of it so i can mount 4 hella 500 lights

so the front bumper would be boxed in. with another 2 sections of tubing on top for the body lift difference.
and the back bumper just boxed in where the corner protectors are

MAKE ANY SENSE?

I could imagine a second tube parallel to the lower tube on the front bumper, with diamond plate (aluminum?) closing it in but I prolly wouldn't do the plate.
And the rear... I think I'd try to find a way to lift the bumper up so it hugs the body like it's supposed to.

do you wheel this thing alot? why do you want such a big truck? you really dont want to go bigger than 35s on an IFS truck. it will cause problems. if you wheel it and have a heavy right foot, you better be good at replacing cv shafts on the trail.
