1993 Toyota PU 22RE Overheating

Hope someone has seen this problem before. Truck running fine the heater was just not heating effectively. so I thought bad Stat and replaced it, that is when real issue started. I noticed that the gauge was reading higher than I was used to. when the engine came to heat it would run rough and stall. Checked all usual suspects hoses sensors belts coolant level water pump. no luck. does anyone have any Ideas?

Thanx for your reply...could it be that simple???? Also I'm not the brightest bulb on the string, how does one burp the system. Thus far I have run the engine with the radiator cap off to the point of overflow nothing much in the way of air bubbles....would this also explain the engine stalling??? thanx again

Use the "SEARCH tton, search term "burp cooling system", in short:
- Run with radiator cap off and front end of truck elevated (so cap is highest point in system) and the heater valve open.
